Ex Vivo Skin Test

Native skin grown in vitro at Lebrun Labs can be used to test a wide range of variables, including product irritation, corrosion, inflammation, and anti-irritant and antioxidant properties. Real skin has a distinct advantage over simple models because it includes the full complement of cell types and extracellular materials including collagen, elastin, and lipids. Since these studies are conducted with human or food-source animal tissues in a dish, they are in vitro and cruelty free.

Human skin (cosmetic surgery) or food-source animal skin (meat industry porcine skin) is used for research related to:

  • Irritation
  • Corrosion
  • Inflammation
  • Anti-irritant effects
  • Antioxidant effects
  • Photo (UV) – sensitization/protection
